Elmdon
Works in Elmdon (Routes A, B and part of C) started in February 2019.
Route C along Damson Parkway, between JLR Gate 1 and Lugtrout Lane, is complete. This involved widening of the footway. Trees, wildflower turf, bulbs and primroses have been added.
We have completed Route B, through Elmdon Park up to and including Damson Parkway (between Old Damson Lane and Gate D4 of JLR). The works mostly involved an upgrade to the existing pathways in Elmdon Park. For Route A, Balfour Beatty widened footpaths between Lode Lane and Valley Road. This has been followed by ecological maintenance and development activities carried out by idverde.
This autumn 2020 we also laid out wildflower turf areas and planted bulbs, primroses and some trees on Elmdon Heath and in Elmdon Park. As well as this there has been bulb planting along Hobs Moat Road and Lode Lane. These are a mixture of crocuses, snowdrops, some native daffodils and primroses.
These works form part of a borough-wide project which is designed to make Solihull greener. Part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the project will open up and improve existing routes, allowing wildlife to flourish and helping people to walk and cycle across the borough.
